CBI arrests engineer in Bhopal on bribe charges

An engineer has been arrested by CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 in return of granting approval for an infrastructure work at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sanghrahalaya in Bhopal.

"A case was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act on the basis of a complaint that has demanded bribe of Rs 35,000 for giving layout plan and for starting the awarded work for construction of share and pump house. He agreed to receive the bribe amount from the complainant in his office," a CBI spokesperson said.

He has been identified as one Gupta.

The CBI said that searches at the office and residential premises of Gupta were also conducted.
 

He is in judicial custody at present.
