CBI arrests NCERT Under Secretary in graft case

CBI today arrested an Under Secretary at NCERT for allegedly demanding bribe from a person for disposing a complaint in his favour.

Hari Ram, posted as an Under Secretary, NCERT, was arrested by the agency while allegedly accepting the bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.

"A case was registered U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the Under Secretary, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for disposing a complaint in his favour, which was pending against him," CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh said.
 

"Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused," she said.

The arrested accused will be produced in the designated court in Delhi.
