CBI arrests NCL Dy GM in Madhya Pradesh for taking bribe

CBI has arrested a Deputy GM of Northern Coal Fields Limited (NCL) in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 in lieu of sanctioning start of work at a coalfield in the state.

The Deputy GM has been identified as Kameshwar Singh who was posted at the Amlohri project of the NCL in Singrauli district of the state.

"A case was registered on a complaint against the Deputy GM under the Prevention of Corruption Act on allegations that Singh had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 40,000 for handing over of site, layout and related documents to the complainant and starting the work of construction of RRM retaining wall along east dump at Amlohri Project at NCL.
 

"CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount," a CBI spokesperson said here.

Singh was later produced before a Special CBI court in Jabalpur after which he was remanded to police custody till tomorrow.
