CBI arrests one bank fraud case

Sleuths of the CBI from Uttar Pradesh arrested a man from Kedlanagar under Mandu police station in Ramgarh district in connection with a cyber-related crime, a senior police officer today said.

A team of CBI's anti-corruption bureau with the help of the local police conducted raid in Kedlanagar locality and arrested one Uma Shankar (35) for allegedly committing cyber crime, said Superintendent of Police, Dr M Tamilvanan.

Tamilvanan said Uma Shankar, who allegedly had links in Mumbai and other places of the country, used to call people introducing himself as bank official and procure their account number, ATM card number and passwords to update it and used to withdraw money from their account.
 

A case in this regard was registered in the Civil Line Police Station in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, which prompted the anti-corruption bureau officers to conduct raids in Ramgarh and arrested the culprit, he said.

The officers produced Uma Shankar before a court in adjoining Hazaribagh and took Uma Shankar on transit remand, he said adding the arrest would help in solving several similar cases pending with the police in Ramgarh.
