CBI has arrested a man and his employer in connection with alleged bribe demanded for re-issuance of damaged passport in tatkal category in Shimla.

Middleman Rahul and his employer Sham Walia were taken into custody by the agency in Shimla, CBI sources today said.

"The complainant alleged that he had applied for issuance of passport in Passport Office, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) in tatkal Category and approached Passport Office, Panthaghati, Shimla.

"He was refused issuance of passport on the grounds that the passport earlier issued to him has been damaged," CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur said here.

"CBI laid a trap and apprehended the middleman, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant at a hotel in Shimla. During investigation, role of his employer was also found in the case, following which he was arrested," he said.
