An Assistant Superintendent (Postal) Awadh Bihari Singh was today caught by CBI sleuths while allegedly accepting bribe in Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district, a senior CBI official said.

Singh was arrested for allegedly accepting Rs.50,000 from one Om Kumari, in lieu of giving her job on compensatory ground following the death of her father, who was a Post Master of Gitilipi post office under Manjhari block of the district.

Om Kumari, who was reluctant to pay bribe as demanded by Singh, had registered a complaint with CBI in this regard, the official said.

Accordingly, a ten-member CBI team from Ranchi headed by an Inspector rank officer laid trap and arrested Singh allegedly for accepting the bribe, the CBI official said.

The investigating team after interrogating Singh for over an hour had seized some documents from his office following verification of files and his computer sets, the official said.

The amount received by Singh were all in new currency notes.
