CBI arrests RP Infosystems directors in Rs 515 cr fraud case

Officials of The Banking Security and Fraud Cell of CBI today arrested two city-based businessmen on a complaint filed by Canara bank.

Two directors of RP Infosystems -- Shibaji Panja and Kaustuv Ray -- were arrested here today, CBI said.

Earlier, the CBI had registered an FIR against them on the basis of a written complaint filed by the bank alleging cheating and criminal conspiracy.

The FIR had also named Vijay Bafna and Debnath Pal, VP of the company.

The complainant said that the company had defrauded Canara Bank and consortium of nine other banks to the tune of Rs 515 crore alleging furnishing false stock, debtors and receivables.
