CBI arrests two MCD officials for alleged bribery

Two MCD officials have been arrested by CBI for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 40,000 to allow construction of a building owned by a complainant.

The accused have been identified as--Vijay Jadhav, Junior Engineer and Govinda Ram Meena, Beldar--both posted at Najafgarh zone of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), CBI officials said.

A case was registered against Meena and Jadhav on the allegation that they demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh in order to allow the construction of a four storey building owned by the complainant, they said.

A trap was laid and both the accused were caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 as a part payment, the officials said.
 

Both the accused have been remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a Special CBI court here.
