CBI arrests two PWD engineers for taking Rs 50,000 bribe

CBI today arrested two PWD engineers of Delhi government for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person in lieu of clearing his pending bills with the department.

CBI sources said the two engineers, M C Sharma, Assistant Engineer (Electrical) and C P Sahu Junior Engineer (Electrical), were nabbed red-handed when they were taking Rs 25,000 each from the complainant.

"A case has been registered against the duo under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The complainant has alleged that the government officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 53,000 from him for passing his pending bills," they said.
 

After nabbing the duo, the agency conducted searches on the official premises of the officials in Geeta colony area and also their residences.

They will be produced in a court tomorrow, they said.
