CBI arrests two with fake currency

CBI today arrested two persons from Lucknow railway station carrying fake currency having face value of Rs 4 lakh.

Sabir Hussain of Bijnaur and Shakeel of Moradabad were coming from Farakka in West Bengal.

During the search, the agency recovered fake currency notes of the denomination of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 of Rs 4 lakh face value, the sources said.

Interrogation revealed that there was another person in their gang who hails from Malda in West Bengal, they said, adding the agency is on the lookout of the third person who has also booked.

"A case has been registered under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) read with Section 489-B, 489-C (related to fake currency) of IPC," CBI spokesperson said in a statement.
