CBI has started its probe into the murder of a contractual teacher of Odisha, Itishree Pradhan, who was burnt to death by an unknown assailant in November 2013, after registering a case on the orders of the Supreme Court.
"It was alleged that Itishree Pradhan, a Siksha Sahayika (Contractual Government Teacher) in Tikri Upper Primary School, was burnt to death by an unknown assailant.
"...The Odisha CID has arrested then Sub-Inspector of Schools of Tikri in Rayagada district and filed a charge sheet under IPC sections 449, 450, 302 and 120B against him, keeping the investigation open against an unidentified accused," a CBI spokesperson said here today.

"CBI took up the investigation of the case which was earlier registered by CID, CB, Odisha vide FIR No.32/2013," she said.
"The trial against the then SI of Schools of Tikri is going on. The Supreme Court has directed CBI to identify the other unidentified accused person who had allegedly set the victim Itishree Pradhan on fire," the official said.
