CBI boosting its prosecution arm

In an attempt to boost its prosecution prowess, country's prestigious investigation agency CBI will appoint 85 public prosecutors to represent it in various courts.

CBI spokesperson said agency is looking for graduates in law with seven years of experience at the Bar in conducting criminal cases.

The official said agency has reserved positions for physically challenged candidates as well, with three positions for visually challenged and one for orthopaedically challenged candidates.

The agency is also looking for experts from various fields on contractual basis which include banking experts, chartered accountants, technical officers and forensic experts to boost its investigation wing.
 

The officers hired through this induction drive will be getting pay scale and powers as that of regular officers during their contract of three to five years.

The agency, on an average is getting around 1000 cases every year which include mega scams like coal allocation case, CWG, 2G, AgustaWestland and sensitive crime cases like Ishrat Jahan fake encounter, Kunda DSP murder etc which is keeping the officials on toes because of the vacant positions.
