Busting a major insurance racket here, CBI today carried out searches at 37 places which mainly included premises of officials of New India Assurance Company Limited for allegedly passing fraudulent insurance claims.
After registering seven cases, the CBI sleuths swooped down on the premises of the insurance officials as well as some companies who were allegedly involved in causing a loss of Rs three crore to the company, officials said.
Besides the insurance officials, premises of surveyors and cold storage owners in West Bengal were searched by the CBI, they said.
The CBI alleged that the insurance officials, surveyors and company owners entered into a criminal conspiracy and made fraudulent insurance claims from the company's Behrampore branch.
