More than three years after the incident, CBI today filed a charge sheet against a former Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gurgaon Ravneet Garg and his parents for allegedly murdering his wife over dowry.

The charge sheet was filed against Garg and his parents under penal provisions related to criminal conspiracy, dowry death, harassment for dowry and and Section 30 of Arms Act.

The CBI had registered a case on August 7, 2013 based on a complaint by the brother of the deceased, Geetanjali, against Garg and his parents. The bullet-riddled body of Geetanjali was recovered on July 17, 2013 at police lines in Gurgaon, Haryana. Garg was arrested by the CBI on September seven this year.

It was alleged by Pardeep Aggarwal, the brother of the deceased, that even after spending huge sums on his sister's marriage with Garg in 2007 her husband's family kept ill-treating her, demanding expensive gifts and cash.

The licenced revolver of her husband was found lying near Geetanjali's body.
