CBI checks Military Hospital records on medicine purchase

The CBI today checked the records of Military Hospital here following complaints of irregularities in purchase of medicines.

The CBI sleuths made a surprise visit to the hospital this afternoon and checked the records pertaining to the purchase of medicines by the Local Purchase Committee, the agency sources said.

According to the sources, the CBI had received complaints on irregularities in purchase of medicines by the Local Purchase Committee of the hospital.

Defence spokesperson Col S D Goswami said every purchase is carried out in compliance of the Defence Purchase Manual 2009 from registered vendors.

"All the purchases are scrutinised by the local purchase committee and then the receiving committee before the medicines reach the medical stores," he said.
 

"We will extend every cooperation to the CBI in its investigation," he said.

There are two types of purchases of the medicines in the military hospitals. One is made at the central level from New Delhi while the second at the local level, which is need based.
