CBI today searched the Centralised Admission Committee office here after the Lt Governor's office sought its probe into alleged corruption in admission to Post Graduate courses by private medical colleges.

In her message through Whatsapp Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said that the "CBI had searched at the CENTAC office and also elsewhere today."

CENTAC is the nodal agency for selecting students for professional courses in government and private medical and other professional colleges in Puducherry.

She said that the Central Vigilance also had been requested "to inquire into the administrative lapses committed by officers responsible for proper and fair conduct of the counselling for admission of students to the post graduate courses and allocation of medical seats".

She stated in her message that 'deserving students had suffered enormously already and the investigations and inquiries now will establish the culpability of each of them".

Bedi had last week stated that her office had sought probe by CBI into the various allegations of large scale corruption in admission of students to the private medical colleges and deemed universities here.
