CBI court convicts former Deputy Drugs Controller

A Deputy Drugs Controller at Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation was convicted today by a Special CBI court in Hyderabad and sentenced to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.

A CBI spokesperson said here today that A Chandrasekhar Rao, then Deputy Drugs Controller, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), has been sentenced him to undergo the imprisonment with fine of Rs two lakh in a bribery case.

"The case was registered on January 20, 2014 against A Chandrasekhar, Deputy Drugs Controller, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), S.R.Nagar, Hyderabad on the allegations that the accused demanded Rs one lakh for renewal of license of a blood bank," CBI Spokesperson said here.
 

She said a trap was laid by CBI on January 20, 2014 and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 as first installment out of total bribe amount of Rs one lakh from the complainant.

"Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of cash of Rs 27,00,000; gold jewellery and property documents. After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused. The court found the accused guilty and convicted him," she said.
