A special CBI court here today convicted the then Branch Manager of State Bank of Patiala in a fraud case and sentenced him to undergo three years of rigorous punishment with fine of Rs 10,000.
Devender Kumar then Branch Manager, State Bank of Patiala, has been sentenced in a fraud case pertaining to purchases made on the basis of bogus bills in State Bank of Patiala, S N Marg Branch wherein a loss of Rs 56 lakh (approx) was caused.
Four other private persons Subash Chand Goel, Anil Kumar Goel, Ashok Kumar Goel and Dhanraj Garg will undergo one year rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 5000 each, CBI spokesperson said here.
"A chargesheet was filed against the accused in the Designated Court, Delhi. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted under the charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," she said.
