CBI is likely to question BSP leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati this week in connection with the alleged swindling of funds in the National Rural Health Mission(NRHM).
CBI sources said today that the agency has already conveyed its intention to question Mayawati in connection with the NRHM scam to unravel the larger conspiracy in the alleged misappropriation of Rs 8,000 crore central funds received by Uttar Pradesh.
The sources said the former Chief Minister is likely to be examined this week either here or in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, CBI Director Anil Sinha today stressed that whatever action is required in the probe of the case it will be undertaken by the agency.
"The agency will proceed as per the demand of the investigation," Sinha said.
CBI had called Mayawati yesterday for examination on two specific issues related to NRHM scam - bifurcation of Health and Family Welfare Department and appointment of District Project Officers considered key to the scam.
The move was an attempt to unravel larger conspiracy in the case, CBI sources claimed.
Reacting to the development, Mayawati today questioned the timing of the CBI investigation against her, saying the move against her was an attempt to "demoralise" her party and divert attention from the "failure" of the government to fulfill its promises made to the people.
"I have no connection to the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. BJP, which is trying to use CBI, should give up such tactics as such attempt have cost them dearly earlier," she told reporters here.
