CBI raids premises of United India Insurance officials, agents

The CBI today raided premises of United India Insurance Company officials and agents here in connection with an alleged fake mediclaim policies scam defrauding the company of Rs 12 lakh.

The raids were carried out simultaneously at 13 premises, including those of six officials of the state-run insurer and as many agents, this morning, sources said.

Officials of the United India Insurance Company in connivance with some agents secured mediclaim policies under fictitious names and allegedly redeemed them thus defrauding the company of Rs 12 lakh, they said.

A large number of documents were recovered from the premises during the raids which were conducted on the basis of a complaint against alleged wrongdoings.
