At present, a 33-member team is involved in the inquiry and investigation into the scam

Press Trust of India New Delhi
CBI today told the Supreme Court that it needs more sleuths for carrying out the inquiry and investigation into coal blocks allocation scam.

A bench headed by justice R M Lodha said it will consider the plea of the agency on September 10 when the matter will be heard again.

"We will be filing petition seeking more investigating officers," senior advocate Amarender Sharan, appearing for CBI, submitted before the bench, also comprising justices Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph.

An advocate associated with the case said the agency needs three more officers of the rank of DySP or SP in its team to carry forward the task.

At present, a 33-member team is involved in the inquiry and investigation into the scam and the apex court, which is monitoring the probe, had made it clear that there would not be any change without its permission.
