The Consultative Committee of Plantation Association (CCPA), the apex body of tea growers in the country, today expressed concern over the killing of Sonali Tea Estate owner at West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.
"CCPA strongly condemns the killing of Rajesh Jhunjhunwala when he was dragged out by a group of workers and battered to death on Saturday," the association said in a statement today.
CCPA said the incident was is in violation of all norms of civilised society and in complete disregard of available grievance settlement norms.

The incident has sent shock waves across the Tea industry in North Bengal and it is a sad commentary on the deteriorating and rampant indiscipline prevailing in the industry in the region, it said.
While the CCPA notes that the administration has already swung into action and identified the perpetrators of this heinous act, the law must take expeditious course so as to serve as a strong deterrent against such incidents, the statement added.
