Closed Circuit Television cameras have been installed at the strong room of the local customs office following the incident of 34 kg of gold going missing, officials said.
The round-the-clock surveillance cameras, which have already started functioning, is likely to help officials check any unauthorised entry and access to the strong room.
Overall security system at the Customs office has also been strengthened with the deployment of more security guards. As part of the process, all outsiders will have to furnish basic information for getting a visitor pass,they said.
CBI is investigating the case relating to the disappearance of the gold last month from the strong room. The gold, seized from smugglers, was kept at the customs office.
