CCTV footage helped the Police crack a burglary case in West Delhi amounting around Rs 30 lakh, which involved two juveniles.
According to the police on May 13, Mahender Guglani, a resident of Janakpuri reported that he had kept Rs 29,90,000 in the almirah on the first floor of his house. In the intervening night of May 12 and 13, some unknown persons broke open the almirah and had stolen the cash. Following this, an FIR was registered at the Hari Nagar police station.
During investigation, beat constable Hosiyaar was exclusively deployed for collecting information and intelligence.
"He has a vast knowledge about the area and active criminals, and thus managed to get vital clue about the criminals. He analysed all CCTV footages of cameras installed in the area. One suspicious boy came into picture who was later identified as a juvenile," said a senior police officer.
On his tip off, a team of cops from the Hari Nagar police station apprehended one juvenile criminal and recovered Rs 15,85,000 from him.
On further probing, the juvenile revealed his accomplice's name. He was apprehended with cash of Rs 11,56,700. The team recovered two mobile phones which they had purchased from the stolen booty.
"Both the juvenile criminals are drug addicts and commit burglaries. Though, they had committed the crime skillfully but they were not lucky enough to escape from eyes of CCTV camera," the officer added.
