Chandigarh Confederation of Workers and Employees today announced its support to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gul Panag in coming Lok Sabha elections.
"We have decided to extend our wholehearted support to Gul Panag as we feel she will take up our issue if she wins from Chandigarh seat at national level," the confederation's president Bhupinder Singh Gill said here today.
Gill claimed CCWE comprises 63 unions working for the rights of contractual workers posted in various government and non-government departments in Chandigarh.

"We have almost 16,000-17,000 members in our confederation who will vote for AAP candidate Gul Panag in coming Lok Sabha elections," he said.
"AAP is the only party which has included the agenda in its national manifesto for the regularisation of contractual, outsourcing workers and all other categories of the employees who are working for the last 15 to 20 years," he added.
Gill said more than 17,000 contractual workers have been working in several governmental and non-governmental establishments in the city for the past several years.
"Despite working for last several years, the employees working on contract have not been regularised," he said.
Gul Panag is pitted against Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal and BJP nominee Kirron Kher in a multi-cornered contest from Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat.
