A Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was caught by anti-corruption vigilance sleuths today for allegedly accepting Rs 28,000 bribe from a woman for appointment as Anganwadi worker in Odisha's Ganjam district.

A trap was laid and CDPO of Jagannathprasad Block, Bhagabati Guru, was caught red handed by vigilance in her office while allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 28,000 from the complainant, a vigilance release said.

Complainant, Puja Rani Pradhan alleged that she had applied for the post of Anganwadi worker of Charikonia Anganwadi Centre under Jagannathprasad Block. She requested the CDPO for her appointment and Guru demanded Rs 30,000 as illegal gratification for her appointment, it said.

After negotiation the accused reduced the demand money to Rs 28,000. Finding no other alternative she reported to the Vigilance.
