An FIR was today registered against unidentified persons in connection with the incident of firing in air during a procession in Kutch district, police said.

After preliminary investigation, Mankuva police station inspector B V Rajyaguru lodged the FIR.

The FIR states that unidentified persons put lives of people in danger by firing several rounds in the air during a religious procession of Swaminarayan sect in Kundanpar village on May 5.

Police have also named members of organising committee of that procession, including one Naran Kerai, for organising this event on a public road without taking any permission in the FIR.

"We have not made any arrests yet in this regard. We will acquire footage from TV channels to identify those who have done firing from their guns during procession," Rajyaguru said.

"It is still unknown to us about how many rounds were exactly fired and who were involved," he added.

On May 5, at least two persons, who were reportedly part of a religious procession, fired in air from their guns in Kundanpur village near Bhuj in the district.

The incident was captured in camera and the footage was beamed by local media.

Kutch (West) SP D N Patel had ordered a probe into the incident and assured to take action against the culprits.
