The censor Board has denied certification for screening of Malayalam movie 'Ka Body Scapes', revolving around a gay love story, saying it has portrayed Hindu gods in poor light and has 'vulgar' and 'offensive' scenes.

The movie has been produced and directed by New York based Jayan Cherian, who helmed the controverisal film "Papilio Buddha".

The CBFC regional officer here said the movie has several 'objectionable' contents and scenes and giving a certificate to it would amount to violation their norms and guidelines in this regard.

"Our revising committee, which saw the movie, felt that the entire content of the feature film is ridiculing, insulting and humiliating Hindu religion," A Prathibha, regional officer of the CBFC here, told PTI.

"The movie also has derogatory words used against women. We have a set of norms and regulations to give certification and cannot violate them while certifying a movie. So, we refused to give it certification for public screening," she said.

The officer added that the director-producer could approach the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal and file an appeal in this regard within 30 days.

The director, who is abroad, is now planning to move the High Court to get the certification, his advocate said.
