The CPI(M) today alleged that central forces were not used properly during the first phase of the panchayat elections in three West Bengal districts and that Trinamool Congress 'biker gangs' had unleashed terror.

"Central forces were not deployed properly. In most of the places there was no central force. TMC biker gangs roamed several areas of the three districts," CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose told reporters here.

He alleged that there was booth capturing and booth jamming in West Midnapore district while there were similar reports from Bankura and Purulia districts also.

"But there were places where people overcome fear and voted," Bose said.

Criticising Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee for his observation yesterday on motorcycle rallies, Bose said, it was prohibited by the State Election Commission.

Mukherjee had said, "I see all political parties taking out motor-cycle rallies.
