Central grant for synthetic turf hockey ground in Chhattisgarh

The Centre has approved a grant of Rs 5.44 crore for synthetic turf hockey ground in Chhattisgarh's naxal-affected Jashpur district.

The grant comes as Minister of State for Steel and Lok Sabha member from Raigarh Vishnu Deo Sai sought the Centre's help for promoting hockey among local youths.

Sai had recently written to Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel in this regard.

Necessary approval has been granted for laying of synthetic hockey turf ground in Jashpur Nagar under Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh at an estimated cost of Rs 5.44 crore, according to an order by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
 

About Rs 1.41 crore has been released as first instalment for the purpose, it said.
