Central Secretariat beats Hockey Madhya Pradesh 2-0

Central Secretariat continued its good run, beating Hockey Madhya Pradesh 2-0 for a second straight win in Pool 'C' in the 9th Hockey India Senior National Hockey Championship 2019 (Men) B Division here Tuesday.

The second day of the tournament also Hockey Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Gujarat and Hockey Jharkhand emerging victorious in their respective matches.

Central Secretariat, which had overwhelmed Gujarat 20-0 on Monday, had to fight hard to get the better of Hockey Madhya Pradesh 2-0. Dharambir Yadav (7th minute) and Pardeep Mor (60th) scored the goals.

In another Pool C match, Hockey Gujarat edged out Hockey Mizoram 3-2.

 

The evenly fought match saw Hockey Mizoram take the lead in the first minute with a goal by Lalhlimpuia.

In the 22nd minute Chintan Patel equalised for Hockey Gujarat while Vanroluaha's penalty stroke helped Hockey Mizoram take 2-1 lead in the 33rd minute.

However, goals in the 51st and 57th minutes through Ajay Thakor and Chintan Patel respectively sealed the match in Hockey Gujarat's favour.

In Pool A matches, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy beat Telangana Hockey 10-1.

Ahmad (10th minute), Priyobata Talem (14th), Sahil Chourey (23th, 51th), Haider Ali (25th, 31st), Sourabh Pasine (30th), Himanshu Sanik (40th), Vivek Sagar Prasad (58th) and Akhtar Ali (60th) scored for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy while Sampath Mylaram scored the only goal for the Telangana team.

In another match, Hockey Bihar lost to Hockey Maharashtra 0-10.

The goal scorers for the Maharashtra team were: Aniket Gurav (6th minute), Ajit Shinde (9th), Parmeshwar Pote (27th), Bhushan Dhere (28th, 32nd, 35th, 51st), Taleb Shah (39th, 53rd) and Pratap Shinde (45th').

Hockey Jharkhand beat Manipur Hockey 2-0 in a Pool B encounter with the goals coming from Anurud Bhengra in the 13th minute and Masidas Mundu in the 40th.

In a closely fought Pool D match, Bengaluru Hockey Association drew with Chhattisgarh Hockey 3-3.

Veerannagouda (15th), Kusha Gowda (52nd) and C Abilash Stalin (53rd) scored for Bengaluru Hockey Association while Nihal Ansari (37th), Junaid Ahmed (47th) and Kartik Yadav (60th) found the net forChhattisgarh Hockey.
