Central team lauds Odisha's approach towards major projects

Terming Odisha's efforts to ground major projects as a "positive" approach, a six-member central team today suggested the state government to upload requests, requirements and views in the website.

This will enable taking up matters with ministries concerned for early solution the team said, according to official sources.

The team led by Additional Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat Sri Anil Swarup, made this remark while reviewing the progress of 44 projects in coal, petroleum, power, railways, shipping and steel sectors.

"We have reviewed the projects in different sectors for facilitating and fast tracking of the projects. I am happy that state government machinery has exhibited proactive support in successful implementation of the projects," Swarup told reporters here.
 

Presiding over the meeting, Odisha Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra asked all the departmental authorities and project implementing agencies to make use of the collaborative effort. "Remove all small or big bottlenecks on the way of implementation of the projects," he said.

In the first sessions, coal and railway projects were reviewed followed by discussion on the projects relating to Power, National Highway and some steel sectors in the second session.

Issues relating to forest clearances, land acquisition, tree cutting, DGPS survey, issue of FRA and PTG certificates, overlapping coal block areas, utilisation of low-grade ore by domestic industries, evacuation of surplus power generated within Odisha were discussed and sorted out in the meeting.

Chief Secretary Mohapatra emphasised on the need for six- laning of Paradeep-Daitary National Highway.

The large infrastructural and investment projects like Jharsuguda-Barpali-Sergada Railway line, Kanika siding, Railway Line from Jharsuguda to Basundhara, Natraj under ground mine, doubling of Haridaspur-Paradeep new railway line on SPV mode, Talcher-Bimilagarh new Railway line, Anugul- Sambalpur Toll Road Project, Cuttack-Anugul Toll Road Project, were among the projects taken up for review, sources said.
