Central team on cyclone damages to submit report by Friday

Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said that the eight member central team to assess the damages caused by the cyclone Hudhud has assured the state government that it would submit its report to the central Government by Friday.

Addressing a press conference here todeay along with AP State Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu here today, Pulla Rao said that the central team led by Joint Secretary to the Union Home Ministry K K Pathak had toured cyclone hit coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari to assess the situation for the last four days and held discussion with district officials including collectors of four districts.
 

He said the state government had submitted a detailed report to the central team putting the total loss caused by the cyclone at Rs 21,908 crore in four districts.

He urged the central government to immediately release Rs 9,300 crore relief works. He said that the state government had already spent Rs 255 crore for rescue and relief operations.

He said out of Rs 1,000 immediate financial assistance announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to cyclone hit areas, the state government had received Rs 400 crore and proposals had sent for the remaining amount.

He said standing crops in 2.38 lakh hectares and 87,984 hectares of horticulture was damaged during the cyclone. He said nearly two lakh houses were damaged either fully or partially.

After winding up its four-day visit the coastal district, the cental team left for New Delhi this evening.
