Central team tours drought-hit areas in Nashik district

A Central team today visited drought-affected areas of Yeola and Nandagaon in the district to take stock of the situation.

"The Central team led by Manas Choudhari, Deputy Advisor of Niti Ayog and Santanu Vishwas, Deputy Director in Ministry of Energy, visited the areas and supervised work," stated an official release.

District Collector Dipendrasinh Kushwah, ZP Chief Executive Officer Sukhdev Bankar and officials of various departments accompanied the team.

The team supervised a public borewell, crops, a cement bund and also interacted with farmers.

They also visited Andersool village in Yeola taluka and assessed drought situation and onion and bajara crops.
 

The team is on a two-day visit to Maharashtra to assess the damage in drought-hit areas, after the state government sought a relief package of Rs 4,000 crore from the Union government.

The team had begun its visit from Aurangabad region.

The state had earlier declared drought in 15,747 villages across the state.
