Central team visits flood-hit villages of Reasi

A high-level team, constituted by the Centre to assess the devastation caused in Jammu and Kashmir due to last month's floods, today visited affected villages of Reasi district.

"The high-level central team visited flood-hit areas of Reasi including worst affected Dera Bawa and Chassana villages to review the situation, relief and rehabilitation measures," an official spokesman said.

Around 20 people had lost their lives in the September flash floods and landslides in Dera Bawa and Chassana villages of the district, the spokesman said.

The team comprising Director Monitoring in Central Water Commission Vivek Tripathi, its Superintending Engineer Aditya Prakash, Director of Central Electricity Board AK Rajput, and Under Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ministry Prakash Bhardwaj visited the flood-hit villages.
 

"The team thoroughly reviewed the measures taken by the district administration to provide relief and rehabilitate the people in flood and landslide hit areas," the spokesman said.

The central team also took an on the spot assessment of the damages caused at Dera Bawa and Chassana villages. The team members interacted with the local people and district administration to know about the relief and rehabilitation measures taken for the affected families.
