Central Warehouse Corporation godown in-charge arrested

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught a godown supervisor of the Central Warehousing Corporation red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant.

According to a CBI release issued here today, the complainant is proprietor of M/s Earth Gift Commodities of Sri Krishnapatnam village, Rajahmundry, which purchases and sells raw cashew nuts.

The complainant alleged that in May 2014, he purchased 17 metric tonne of raw cashew nuts from farmers and stored it in the Central Warehousing Corporation's Rajamundry godown.

Later, the complainant sold it to M/s Satyanarayana and Company in Odisha. When the Odisha-based company wanted to take ownership of the cashew nuts, the Central Warehousing Corporation's Rajahmundry supervisor and godown in-charge M Elisha allegedly told the complainant that he would allow the the company to take away the nuts only after he was paid Rs 6,000 as a bribe, in addition to the gowdown rent.
 

The complainant approached the CBI after which Elisha was caught red-handed, arrested and produced before CBI Principal Special Judge Court for Visakhapatnam, who remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
