The Centre aims to double foreign tourist inflow in the country in the next three years and is taking all measures to achieve the target, Union minister K J Alphons said today.
Participating in the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) exhibition here, the Union Minister Of State for Tourism said, "Foreign tourist inflow in the country grew by 15.6 per cent last year. We want to double the tourist inflow in the next three years."
He said that Rajasthan has immense potential for growth of tourism and asked the state officials to make efforts to increase footfall at tourist destinations in the state, particularly at Amber Fort in Jaipur.
At the event, K J Alphons also held a meeting with officials and tourism stakeholders and reviewed the progress of the Amber Fort development project.
Tourism department of various states have set up pavilions to highlight their states' tourism potential, business opportunities and customised tourism packages for foreign and Indian buyers.
As many as 280 foreign tour operators from 55 countries and tourism departments from nine states, apart from Rajasthan, are participating in the event which was inaugurated last night by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
