The Centre has constituted a team of senior officials to assess the irrigation facilities and implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) in select districts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The team comprises one official each from Union ministries of agriculture, rural development, land resource and the Uttar Pradesh state government, besides a scientist from IARI, Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
The team has been formed to study status of irrigation development and implementation of PMKSY, it added.

The team will visit the villages namely Mukundpur, Kharad, Bhora Kalan, Kuba, Barwala, Mandi and Gangdheli districts of Muzzafarnagar constituency -- represented by Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan.
The terms of reference of the visit are -- to assess the situation of existing water bodies, irrigation requirement in sugarcane areas, the water use efficiency for sugarcane crop and measures to promote precision irrigation in sugarcane farms.
The team has been assigned to suggest various measures for improving ground water recharge and study the feasibility of promoting micro irrigation and linking with available sources of water.
The team has been asked to submit the report at the earliest.
