"All development works in Punjab are being executed with the help of funds provided by the Union Government and the state (Punjab) government is taking undue credit for the same," Tewari, who is the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, told reporters here.

Tewari claimed that the UPA Government is releasing huge funds for all the states under various welfare and development schemes including MGNREGA, SSA, Mid-day Meal Scheme and rural development.

The Union minister alleged that due to wrong economic policies of the Punjab government, the state was under the burden of Rs 75,000 crore debt.

He also accused the state government of making false claims of development whereas the law and order situation has deteriorated and the economic health of the state has worsened.

However, the Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana said that the Union Government did not discriminate with any non-Congress ruled state as it believed in the all-round development of the country.
