Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the Centre has assured him of early resolution of the issue over constituting of a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for Haryana.

The Centre has appointed senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar, who is also in-charge of political affairs of party in Punjab, as its emissary to get the issue resolved, Badal said.

"I am in constant touch with the Centre through their emissary Shanta Kumar, who has assured of early resolution of this vexed issue (separate SGPC by Haryana)," he said.

A statement quoting Badal said that "his party Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is not fond of organising 'morchas' (movements/ struggles)."

He, however, said the SAD would not allow "anti-Sikh forces" to weaken their institutions.

He said that the party would chalk out its future course of action on July 27 at Amritsar during the World Sikh Conference.

Sikhs from different places will converge in Amritsar to decide on future course of action on Haryana government's recent move to enact Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

Badal along with other top party leaders will be part of the Sikh congregation there.

Meanwhile, Sikhs in Haryana too have summoned a congregation on July 28 in Karnal where Akal Takht head Gurbachan Singh has also been invited.

The row over SGPC has created a crisis among the Haryana government and the Centre and also with the Punjab government and Sikhs.

Recently, the Centre had asked the Haryana government to impress upon its Governor to withdraw his assent on Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Bill.

However, the Haryana government sent a dissenting note on the issue to the Centre on its letter.

Badal reiterated that the separate Committee for Management of Gurdwaras in Haryana would never happen in reality rather it was a "deliberate attempt" to "divide" the Sikhs and dilute their institutions.

Badal also took exception to his cabinet colleague Anil Joshi declaring yesterday that he will protest against his won government over the issue of 'advance tax' on traders in the state.

"He (Joshi) is his (Badal's) cabinet colleague and it would have been far better if he had personally discussed this issue with him," the statement quoting Badal said.

Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated a cancer institute here.
