The Centre is willing to provide financial assistance for projects proposed by the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya here, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said today.

However, the requests for the same should come from the state (Uttar Pradesh) government, he added.

The University made a presentation to the visiting Minister on the proposal to set up Central Poultry Performing Testing Labs, Artificial Insemination centre for goats and Diagnostic Imaging Technique centre.

"Assistance to projects like opening of Central Poultry Performing Testing Labs, Artificial Insemination centre for goats, Diagnostic Imaging Technique centres can be considered, if they are routed through the state government. There would be no dearth of funds," Singh said.

When asked on any plans to convert Deen Dayal University into a Central University, the Minister said: "First, we would like to set up four to five agriculture universities in the country and then look at setting up a Central Veterinary University."

He later held a meeting with the University's Vice Chancellor Akhilesh Chandra Varshaney, Dean S K Garg and Heads of different departments on various issues.
