The Centre is keen on setting up a Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region here, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar has said.
Addressing a meeting after inaugurating a farm fair at Puttur near here yesterday, he said the Centre also proposed to set up such petrochemical regions in Odisha, Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and Dahej in Gujarat with a Rs 10.50 lakh crore investment.
The projects were expected to provide employment to over 37 lakh people, he said.

The minister said seven new fertiliser manufacturing units would come up in the country including one in Karnataka with a production capacity of 13 lakh tons.
