Centre releases Rs 135 cr for 18 new polytechnics in J-K: Min

The Jammu and Kashmir government today informed that the Centre has released an amount of Rs 135 crore for the construction of new polytechnics in the state.

"An amount of Rs 135 crore has been released by the Centre for construction of 18 new polytechnics in the state," Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool, said during a review meeting here today.

He added an amount of Rs 383 crore has been spent for upgradation of 66 existing old polytechnics and purchase of latest equipment, machinery, books, etc.

The minister also said that an amount of Rs one crore each has been sanctioned for six polytechnics of the state, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh and Kargil.
 

Rasool, meanwhile, asked the officers to complete the ongoing work on new ITI complexes on fast-track basis, so as to augment the infrastructure capacities for the benefit of the youth studying there.
