Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today said the Centre has given its nod to the proposal of the Puducherry government to upgrade the 31-year-old Puducherry Engineering College into a Technical University.
Inaugurating a job fair organised by Department of Information Technology and the Chennai based ICT Academy under the banner "Link 2017" at the engineering college here, he said the government would introduce a bill for upgrading the institution into a technical university in the Assembly.
The Bill would be forwarded to the Union Home and Law Ministries for the approval so that "we can go ahead with the upgradation of the institute", he said.
The government was keen that graduates from Puducherry got jobs through special training.
