Centre sanctions Rs 7 crore for Tripura medical project

"The central government has sanctioned Rs seven crore for purchasing 75 ambulances which would provide ERS. The state government has already submitted the Detailed Project Report to the Centre," Tripura director of National Rural Health Mission Samarjeet Bhowmik said.

Control rooms would be opened in every subdivisions and ambulances, equipped with basic health support system, would be provided to carry patients at any time from their homes, he told reporters.

Bhaumick said the ambulances would be operated by private partners and paramedical staff would be in the ambulances to provide medical help to patients.

The service would be launched in Tripura soon under the NRHM and will be the second state in the north eastern region after Assam to have such facility, he said.
