The Centre is serious to set up a six million tonne per annum steel plant with NMDC in Jharkhand despite stress in the industry, Union Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said today.
"There is stress in the steel industry but the Centre is serious to set up the plant in Jharkhand with NMDC in a joint venture," Tomar said at a press conference here.
There are steel mills in Karnataka with NMDC, in Odisha with RINL and in Chhatisgarh with SAIL, he said.

"After UPA-II's work left an environment of disappointment in the country through corruption, scams, policy paralysis and weakening position at the international level, Modiji began work on a speedy note," Tomar said
"India's dignity rose abroad," he said and cited examples like 177 countries celebrating Yoga Day and accepting alternative energy sources.
Tomar, who was here along with Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Krishan Pal and BJP's National Secretary H Raja, said under the MUDRA Yojana 3.41 crore people were benefited with disbursal of Rs 1.41 crore of loan.
