Addressing a gathering here on the occasion of I-Day here yesterday, Kumar said, "Centre should not delay and accept the demand for special state status to Bihar at the earliest to facilitate Bihar to attain the national average of growth soon."
He said the special state status would help Bihar get heavy investments in private sector and the state would get more funds than what it received now under the Centre-sponsored schemes.
The amount of share Bihar bears towards implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes would go down as a result, he said.
"We are always making the demand for securing special state status to Bihar so that the central share under the centrally-sponsored schemes increase and the investors in the state should have concessions in different taxes," Chief Minister said adding it would lead to increase in heavy capital investments and create job opportunities for youths at large scale.
