Assuring quick disposal of Uttarakhand's pending demands pertaining to the civil aviation sector before the Centre, Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju today said Pantnagar airport will be developed as a cargo airport and facilities at the Jollygrant airport in Dehradun will be further upgraded.

Giving the assurance to Chief Minister Harish Rawat at a meeting here, the Civil Aviation Minister said all the proposals sent by the state government to the Centre regarding upgradation and expansion of airports in the state will soon be disposed of after taking all security aspects into consideration, an official release said.

Proposals sent by the state government to the Centre include night landing facilities for helicopters at helidromes, granting international airport status to the Jollygrant airport and launching flight operations from Chandigarh and Amritsar for Dehradun considering the large number of devotees visiting the state for the Chardham and Mansarovar yatras.

The demands also include resumption of an Air India flight operation between Delhi and Pantnagar which was withdrawn a few years ago.

The Union Minister has assured of positive action on all the proposals sent by the state to the Centre, the chief minister said after the meeting.
