Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Kamal Nath, said here today that both the Centre and the states should jointly draw a strategy to end the Naxal menace in the country.

"Both the Centre and the State should jointly draw a solid strategy to end the menace of Naxalism in the country," Nath told reporters at village Barra where he had come to take part in the death rituals of senior Congress leader Harvansh Singh.

Condemning the Naxal attack on Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh yesterday, Nath said that the Centre was ready to extend any kind of assistance that the states would need to tackle the menace.

Earlier, talking to reporters at Chhindwara airstrip, he said that the Naxals should get into the mainstream, otherwise the government would need to take strong action against them.

Nath did not accept any garlands at the airstrip as a mark of respect to those killed in the deadly assault in Sukma district.
