Union Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma today said the "Centre is committed to make Puducherry an international destination of tourism".
Declaring open the Rs 5.5 crore Puducherry Science Centre and Planetarium established jointly by National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) here he said Puducherry has a rich heritage, culture and natural beauty.
"I assure that at the Central level we are committed to make Puducherry an international destination of tourism," Sharma said.

Appreciating the setting up of the Science Centre, the minister said it was high time that the traits of exploration is kindled and encouraged in young children.
"There is a need to ignite the trait of exploring among children in the country," he said, adding the facility established by the NCSM here would help kindle the scientific temper of the youth.
He said the opening of the skies to 76 countries with e-visa on arrival facility has increased tourist flow into the country.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy who presided said the science centre and planetarium project was a long-felt requirement of Puducherry.
